AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE TOWN OF PINETOPS TO SELL AT PRIVATE SALE CERTAIN LAND NOT NEEDED FOR MUNICIPAL PURPOSES.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. The Board of Commissioners of the Town of Pinetops is hereby authorized and empowered to sell at private sale that portion of the tract of land considered not needed for municipal purposes acquired from the Board of Education of Edgecombe County by deed of record in the office of the Register of Deeds of Edgecombe County in Book 665, page 439. The tract or parcel of land to be sold under this Act being particularly described as follows:

"That portion of the above-mentioned and referred-to tract or land bounded on the North by Burnett Street, on the West by School Street, on the South by other property of the Town of Pinetops known as school building lots, and on the East by Ninth Street, containing 3.5 acres, more or less."

Sec. 2. The board of commissioners of said town may sell said property at private sale for cash or upon such terms as it may determine to be proper and for the best interest of the town, at such price as they may consider fair and reasonable, without publication of notice of sale or advertising for bids, and apply and appropriate the proceeds from such sale as it may deem best for the town.

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.

In the General Assembly read three times and ratified, this the 24th day of May, 1963.
