AN ACT TO AMEND G.S. 14-409 RELATING TO THE MANUFACTURE, USE AND POSSESSION OF MACHINE GUNS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

Section 1.  G.S. 14-409 as the same appears in the 1963 Cumulative Supplement to the General Statutes is hereby amended by substituting a semicolon for the colon at the end of line eight in the second paragraph and inserting immediately thereafter the following: "the manufacture, use or possession of such weapons for scientific or experimental purposes when such manufacture, use or possession is lawful under Federal laws and the weapon is registered with a Federal agency, and when a permit to manufacture, use or possess the weapon is issued by the sheriff of the county in which the weapon is located."

Sec. 2.  G.S. 14-409 is hereby further amended by striking from the tenth line of the second paragraph the word "sixteen" and substituting in lieu thereof the words "thirty-one".

Sec. 3.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4.  This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.
