SENATE BILL 35

 

 

AN ACT TO PROHIBIT POSTING OF POLITICAL, BUSINESS, AND COMMERCIAL ADVERTISEMENT IN MECKLENBURG COUNTY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. In Mecklenburg County, any person is prohibited from painting, printing, placing, erecting, or affixing, any business, commercial or political posters or advertisements on or to any stone, tree, fence, stump, pole, or building, which is the property of another without first obtaining the written consent of such owner thereof, or on or to any stone, tree, fence, stump, pole, or mile-board, or mile-stone, danger-signal, guide-sign, guide-post, or building within the limits of a public highway.

Sec. 2. The words "political posters or advertisements" as the same are used in this Act shall mean only those of candidates seeking public office solely within Mecklenburg County, or any city, town, or subdivision therein. This Act shall apply only to Mecklenburg County.

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
