AN ACT RELATING TO THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE TOWN OF ELLERBE IN RICHMOND COUNTY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. In the regular municipal election of officials in the Town of Ellerbe in Richmond County in 1969, there shall be elected five town commissioners instead of three. The two town commissioners elected who receive the highest number of votes shall serve for terms of four years each. The three town commissioners elected who receive the lowest number of votes shall serve for terms of two years each. In 1971, and quadrennially thereafter, three town commissioners shall be elected for terms of four years each and in 1973, and quadrennially thereafter, two commissioners shall be elected for terms of four years each. The terms of office shall commence on the first Monday in July of the year in which the commissioners are elected.

Sec. 2. The governing body of the Town of Ellerbe is hereby authorized to fix the salaries of the mayor and the town commissioners.

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.
