SENATE BILL 4

 

 

AN ACT TO DESIGNATE ARBOR WEEK IN NORTH CAROLINA.

 

WHEREAS, various programs of beautification, conservation and development has been launched in North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, it is desirable that the planting of seedlings and flowering shrubs be encouraged to promote the beautification and conservation of the vast and varied natural resources of North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, the designation of a particular week in each year as Arbor Week would encourage and draw public attention to a concerted effort by North Carolinians to beautify and conserve the State's resources by the planting of young trees and shrubs; and

WHEREAS, The Garden Club of North Carolina, Incorporated, has urged the designation of a certain week during each year as Arbor Week: Now, therefore,

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  The week in March of each year containing March 15 is hereby designated as Arbor Week in North Carolina.

Sec. 2.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3.  This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.

In the General Assembly read three times and ratified, this the 14th day of March, 1967.
