AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE TOWN OF ENFIELD TO CONVEY CERTAIN REAL ESTATE TO THE ENFIELD VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMNT, INC.

 

WHEREAS, the Enfield Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., heretofore conveyed to the Town of Enfield certain real estate on the express condition that it was to be used, maintained and operated as a community center; and

WHEREAS, the said real estate has not been used as a community center for several years; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Enfield desires to convey the said real estate back to the Enfield Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., upon the payment by it to the said town of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) in consideration for certain improvements made thereon: Now, therefore,

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. The Town of Enfield is hereby authorized and empowered to convey to the Enfield Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., at private sale and for a consideration of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) the following described real estate lying and being located in the Town of Enfield, County of Halifax, State of North Carolina and more particularly described as follows:

BEGINNING in the center of U. S. Highway No. 301 where the lands of Peyton Randolph adjoin said Highway and running thence in a westerly direction along the line of Peyton Randolph about 147 feet to a fence, corner on the lands of Enfield Fire Department; thence in a northerly direction along said fence about 170 feet to the Community Building; thence in a westerly direction 10 feet to a corner on the lands of Enfield Fire Department; thence in a northerly direction 70 feet to a corner on the lands of Enfield Fire Department; thence in an easterly direction 10 feet to a fence, corner at the Community Building; thence along said fence in a northerly direction about 170 feet to a corner; thence in an easterly direction about 147 feet to the center of said Highway No. 301; thence along the center of said Highway No. 301 410 feet to the beginning. This is the same lot, tract or parcel of land conveyed to Enfield Fire Department, Inc., by Peyton Randolph and wife, Bessie S. Randolph by deed dated January 13, 1939, and recorded in Book 490, page 49 Halifax County Public Registry and is a part of the same land conveyed to G. Robert Ivey, Luther C. Marshall and H. H. Burrows, Trustees for the Enfield Fire Department by Jim Ed Condrey and wife, by deed dated February 2, 1938 and recorded in Book 473, page 426, Halifax County Public Registry.

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its ratification.
