AN ACT TO AMEND G.S. 49-10 RELATING TO THE LEGITIMATION OF CHILDREN.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 49-10 is hereby amended by rewriting the first sentence thereof to read as follows:

"The putative father of any child born out of wedlock, whether such father resides in North Carolina or not, may apply by a verified written petition, filed in a special proceeding in the superior court of the county in which the putative father resides or in the superior court of the county in which the child resides, praying that such child be declared legitimate."

Sec. 2.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3.  This act shall be in full force and effect on and after October 1, 1971.

In the General Assembly read three times and ratified, this the 5th day of April, 1971.
