AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 111 OF THE GENERAL STATUTES TO PROVIDE THAT NO MONIES BELONGING TO AN AID TO THE BLIND RECIPIENT IDENTIFIABLE AS MONIES RECEIVED PURSUANT TO AN AID TO THE BLIND AWARD SHALL BE SUBJECT TO LEVY, ATTACHMENT OR GARNISHMENT.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 111-18 is hereby amended by adding a new paragraph at the end to read as follows:

"It is intended that awards paid to recipients under this Article be for the purpose of assisting in defraying the recipient's day to day living expenses. To better achieve this purpose it is hereby provided that no monies belonging to a recipient of aid to the blind under this Article identifiable as monies paid pursuant to an aid to the blind award shall be subject to levy under execution, attachment or garnishment."

Sec. 2.  This act shall become effective July 1, 1971.
