HOUSE BILL 746

 

AN ACT RESTRICTING THE HUNTING OF DEER FROM PUBLIC ROADS IN GATES COUNTY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  It shall be unlawful for any person to hunt, take, kill, or attempt to hunt, take or kill any game from any public road or highway where such public road or highway adjoins land which is posted according to law; provided, however, this act shall not apply to any person who has secured and has in his possession the prior written permission of the owner or lessor of such posted land to hunt on said land.

Sec. 2.  It shall be the duty of all law enforcement officers in Gates County, including game protectors employed by the Wildlife Resources Commission, to enforce the provisions of this act.

Sec. 2 1/2.  Any person convicted of violating this act shall be punished by a fine of up to $50 or imprisonment up to thirty days, or both, in the discretion of the court.

Sec. 3.  This act shall apply only to Gates County.

Sec. 4.  This act shall be effective July 1, 1971.
