SENATE BILL 70

 

 

AN ACT TO AMEND G.S. 20-166.1(b) TO ALLOW FIVE DAYS TO SUBMIT A WRITTEN ACCIDENT REPORT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  Subsection (b) of G.S. 20-166.1, as the same appears in the 1965 Replacement Volume 1C of the General Statutes, is amended by inserting the words "five days" in lieu of the words "twenty-four hours" in line three thereof so that G.S. 20-166.1(b) shall read as follows:

"(b)      The driver of any vehicle involved in a collision resulting in injury to or death of any person or total property damage to an apparent extent of one hundred dollars ($100.00) or more, shall, within five days after the collision, forward a written report of the collision to the Department."

Sec. 2.  This act shall become effective on July 1, 1971.

In the General Assembly read three times and ratified, this the 8th day of March, 1971.
