SENATE BILL 637

 

AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 4 OF THE SESSION LAWS OF 1963, RELATING TO THE TIME FOR FILING FOR THE OFFICE OF MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THOMASVILLE.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  Chapter 4 of the Session Laws of 1963 is hereby amended by striking out the first sentence of Subsection "D" of Section 1 and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

"The City of Thomasville shall be nonpolitical, and each candidate for nomination in such election shall file with the City Clerk not later than 6:00 P.M. on the third Tuesday preceding the first Monday in May before the election in which they seek to run."

Sec. 2.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3.  This act shall become effective upon its ratification.
