CHAPTER 759

HOUSE BILL 1278

 

AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE NOMINATION AND ELECTION OF MEMBERS OF THE NORTHAMPTON COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. The Northampton County Board of Education shall consist of seven members elected by the voters of the county at large for terms of four years.  The election shall be held on a non-partisan basis at the time of the primary election as is provided for in Chapter 972 of the 1967 Session Laws and Chapter 1301 of the 1969 Session Laws.

Sec. 2. James H. Jones and Mrs. Roy B. Parker are hereby appointed to serve as members of the Northampton County Board of Education bringing the total membership on the Board to seven. James H. Jones and Mrs. Roy B. Parker shall hold office until their successors are elected and qualified at the primary election to be held for county officers in 1972.

Sec. 3. This act shall become effective upon ratification.

In the General Assembly read three times and ratified, this 5th day of July, 1971.
