HOUSE BILL 1280

 

AN ACT TO FIX THE COMPENSATION OF THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF THE CHARLOTTE-MECKLENBURG BOARD OF EDUCATION.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education is authorized to pay the chairman and members of the board as compensation as such officers the sum of five hundred dollars ($500.00) per month for the chairman and three hundred dollars ($300.00) per month for each member of the board, to be paid monthly out of funds derived from the special school tax supplement or from current revenues.

Sec. 2. The chairman and members of the board shall be allowed ten cents (10c) per mile as travel expenses between their homes and the place of any meeting of the board and for travel in furtherance of the business and affairs of the schools or for the purpose of promoting the best interest of the schools, the amount of such allowance in any case to be paid monthly by the board.

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with the provisions of this act are hereby repealed in so far as they may apply to Mecklenburg County.

Sec. 4. This act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
