AN ACT TO AMEND G.S. 163-106(b) TO PROVIDE THAT A PERSON MUST BE AFFILIATED WITH A POLITICAL PARTY FOR THREE MONTHS TO BE A CANDIDATE IN PARTY PRIMARY.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
Section 1. G.S. 163-106(b) is amended by adding at the end of the first paragraph thereof the following:
"No person who has changed his political party affiliation, as permitted in G.S. 163-74(b), shall be permitted to file as a candidate in the primary of the party to which he changed unless he has been affiliated with the political party in which he seeks to be a candidate for at least three months prior to the filing date for the office for which he desires to file his notice of candidacy."
Sec. 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 1971.
