AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR AN INCENTIVE PAY FOR WORK BY JUVENILES AT SCHOOLS OPERATED BY THE BOARD OF JUVENILE CORRECTION.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  Persons who are under commitment to the Department of Juvenile Correction may be compensated in accordance with the rules and regulations of the State Board of Juvenile Correction, at rates set by the Board not exceeding ten cents (10¢) per hour, for work performed or attendance at training programs, such work or training programs to take place on the premises of the school where the committed person resides. For the purposes of this section, the Board may accept grants or gifts from any person, private organization, or any governmental entity having authority to make such gifts or grants and may make allocations of funds available for the purposes of this section to the various schools operated by the Board.

Sec. 2.  This act shall be effective upon ratification.
