NORTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY
1971 SESSION
CHAPTER 975
SENATE BILL 770
AN ACT TO PROVIDE SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A RESIDENCE AT FORT FISHER STATE HISTORIC SITE.
Whereas, the General Assembly of 1967 appropriated the sum of $12,000 for the construction of a residence for the site manager at Fort Fisher State Historic Site; and
Whereas, there was a three-year delay in the acquisition of the land necessary for the placement of the proposed structure; and
Whereas, in the meantime building costs increased drastically and the funds previously appropriated are now insufficient to provide for its construction; and
Whereas, the Fort Fisher Restoration Committee has pledged to donate the sum of $3,000 to assist in the construction; and
Whereas, the residence is sorely needed to provide continuing surveillance over and protection of this the most heavily visited of the State Historic Sites; Now, therefore,
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
Section 1. There is hereby appropriated from the General Fund to the State Department of Archives and History the sum of $7,000 for the purpose of supplementing funds already on hand for the construction of a manager's residence at Fort Fisher State Historic Site.
Sec. 2. This act shall be in full force and effect on and after July 1, 1971.
In the General Assembly read three times and ratified, this the 19th day of July, 1971.
