SENATE BILL 56

 

 

AN ACT TO AMEND G.S. 96-13(3) OF THE EMPLOYMENT SECURITY LAW TO PROVIDE ELIGIBILITY FOR PERSONS ENGAGED IN FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT CONCURRENT WITH SCHOOL ATTENDANCE.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 96-13(3) as it appears in the 1974 Cumulative Supplement, Volume 2C of the General Statutes of North Carolina, is amended as follows:

By deleting the colon following the word "attendance" in line 25, and adding ". Except: (i) any person who was engaged in full-time employment concurrent with his school attendance, who is otherwise eligible, shall not be denied benefits because of school enrollment and attendance."

Sec. 2.  G.S. 96-13(3) as it appears in the 1974 Cumulative Supplement, Volume 2C of the General Statutes of North Carolina, is amended as follows:

By deleting after the word "attendance" in line 25, "Provided further, however, effective July 1, 1969," and adding before the word "an" in line 26 the parenthetical number "(ii)" and capitalizing the word "an".

Sec. 3.  This act shall become effective upon ratification.
