AN ACT TO ELIMINATE THE PAROLE COMMISSION FROM WORK RELEASE DECISIONS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1. G.S. 148-33.1(a) is amended by deleting the phrase "not exceeding five years" in the first sentence.

Sec. 2. G.S. 148-33.1(b) is repealed and the remaining subsections of G.S. 148-33.1 are relettered accordingly.

Sec. 3. G.S. 148-33.1(d) is amended by deleting the phrase in the first sentence "The Parole Commission" and by substituting the following: "The Secretary of Correction".

Sec. 4. G.S. 148-33.2(a) is amended by deleting the phrase in the first sentence "and the Parole Commission are" and by substituting the word "is".

Sec. 5. G.S. 148-33.2(a) is further amended by deleting the phrase in the second sentence "and the Parole Commission" both times it appears.

Sec. 6. G.S. 148-33.2(b) is amended by deleting in the first sentence the phrase "and the Parole Commission are" and by substituting the word "is".

Sec. 7. G.S. 148-33.2(b) is further amended by deleting the phrase in the second sentence "and the Parole Commission".

Sec. 8. G.S. 148-33.2(c) is amended by deleting from the first sentence the phrase "the Parole Commission and".

Sec. 9. G.S. 148-33.2(d) is amended by deleting from the first sentence the phrase "and the Parole Commission".

Sec. 10. This act shall become effective on July 1, 1981, and shall apply only to work release decisions involving persons sentenced under Article 81A of Chapter 15A of the General Statutes.
