AN ACT REQUIRING THE OPERATOR OF ANY VESSEL OPERATED ON THE WATERS OF THE STATE TO STOP FOR A BLUE LIGHT OR SIREN EXHIBITED BY ANY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER DURING THE PERFORMANCE OF DUTIES.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  Operators of any vessels operated on the waters of the State are hereby required to stop for a blue light or siren exhibited by any law enforcement officer during the performance of his/her duties.

Sec. 2.  Every person convicted of violating this act shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punishable as if it were an offense for which the punishment is provided by G.S. 20- 176(b).

Sec. 3.  This act applies only to Catawba, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, and Mecklenburg Counties.

Sec. 4.  This act is effective upon ratification.
