CHAPTER 1037
AN ACT TO LIMIT THE IMMUNITY HELD BY MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
Section 1. G.S. 120-9 reads as rewritten:
"§ 120-9. Freedom of speech; protection from arrest.
The members shall have freedom of speech and debate in the
General Assembly, and shall not be liable to impeachment or question, in any
court or place out of the General Assembly, for words therein spoken; .
and shall be protected, except in cases of crime, from all arrest and
imprisonment, or attachment of property, during the time of their going to,
coming from, or attending the General Assembly."
Sec. 2. This act is effective upon ratification.
In the General Assembly read three times and ratified this the 24th day of July, 1992.
