GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF NORTH CAROLINA

CHAPTER 338
AN ACT TO CLARIFY THAT A NORTH CAROLINA COURT HAS PERSONAL JURISDICTION OVER ACTIONS ARISING FROM DIRECT AND INDIRECT SOLICITATIONS.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
Section 1. G.S. 1-75.2 is amended by adding the following new subdivision to read:
"(5) 'Solicitation' means a request or appeal of any kind, direct or indirect, by oral, written, visual, electronic, or other communication, whether or not the communication originates from outside the State."
Sec. 2. This act becomes effective October 1, 1993, and applies to any actions filed on or after that date.
In the General Assembly read three times and ratified this the 14th day of July, 1993.
