SENATE BILL 505
AN ACT to increase the fee paid to local medical examiners for each investigation conducted.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. G.S. 130A-387 reads as rewritten:
For each investigation and prompt filing of the required
report, the medical examiner shall receive a fee paid by the State. However, if
the deceased is a resident of the county in which the death or fatal injury
occurred, that county shall pay the fee. The fee shall be seventy-five
dollars ($75.00) one hundred dollars ($100.00)."
SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law and applies to deaths investigated on or after that date.
In the General Assembly read three times and ratified this the 24th day of August, 2005.
