AN ACT to amend the law providing for the taking of foxes with weapons and by trapping in rockingham county.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. Chapter 179 of the 1985 Session Laws reads as rewritten:
"Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law,
there is an open season for taking foxes with weapons from December 1
through January 1 of each year. firearms, bow and arrow, or crossbow
during any open small game season each year.
Sec. 2. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, there is
an open season for taking foxes by trapping from January 2 through January
31 November 1 through February 28 of each year. During this season,
all leghold traps set on dry land with solid anchor shall have at least
three swivels in the trap chain and no leghold traps larger than size one and
one‑half may be used. shall be in accordance with State law.
Sec. 3. A season bag limit of 30 applies in the aggregate
to all foxes taken during the weapons and trapping seasons established in this
act. No bag limit applies to foxes taken under this act.
Sec. 4. The Wildlife Resources Commission shall provide
for the sale of foxes taken lawfully pursuant to this act. No tags shall
be required for the sale of the fur of foxes taken in accordance with this act.
Sec. 5. This act shall apply only to Rockingham County.
Sec. 6. This act shall become effective October 1, 1985."
SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law.
