Short Title: Funds for Craven/Lenoir/Pamlico. (Public)

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
Section 1. There is appropriated from the General Fund to the board of county commissioners in each of the following counties funds for the 1989-90 fiscal year to be allocated to the board of education in each county:
(1) The sum of $2,000 to the Craven County Board of County Commissioners;
(2) The sum of $2,000 to the Lenoir County Board of County Commissioners; and
(3) The sum of $1,000 to the Pamlico County Board of County Commissioners.
Funds shall be used to provide support for educational foundations serving local school administrative units in each county. Educational foundations supplement State-supported educational programs by providing funds for science project field trips, to promote teacher excellence, and to enhance educational opportunities for children in rural, poor counties. The appropriation to each county board of county commissioners shall be matched with non-State funds on the basis of two dollars ($2.00) of non-State funds for every one dollar ($1.00) of State funds.
Sec. 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 1989.
