A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to appropriate funds to the department of justice to fund positions for enforcement of mortgage fraud cases, as recommended by the house select committee on home foreclosures.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Justice the sum of six hundred forty-six thousand five hundred ninety-five dollars ($646,595) for the 2006-2007 fiscal year to fund four new positions in the Consumer Protection Division and three new positions in the State Bureau of Investigation. The positions shall be used to improve enforcement of mortgage fraud cases.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2006.
