A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT to appropriate funds to establish an atlantic coast conference hall of champions in the city of GREENSBORO.
Whereas, the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) was founded in the City of Greensboro in 1953 and has maintained its headquarters in the City since that time; and
Whereas, Greensboro has served as the host city for a number of ACC athletic events, including women's and men's basketball, golf, and baseball tournaments; and
Whereas, plans have been made to renovate former warehouses near the Greensboro Coliseum complex to establish an ACC Hall of Champions; and
Whereas, the ACC Hall of Champions will feature interactive games, educational exhibits, revolving memorabilia displays and tributes to former ACC athletes, and member school information; and
Whereas, the ACC Hall of Champions is expected to attract more than 100,000 visitors annually making the museum a tourist destination for Greensboro; Now, therefore,
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. There is appropriated from the General Fund to the City of Greensboro the sum of twenty million dollars ($20,000,000) for the 2005‑2006 fiscal year to establish an Atlantic Coast Conference Hall of Champions.
SECTION 2. This act becomes effective July 1, 2005.
