A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to require the attending physician of an employee to select THE HEALTH CARE PROVIDER AND THE DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES CENTER TO ADMINISTER AND ANALYZE ANY DIAGNOSTIC TESTS AUTHORIZED BY a PHYSICIAN under the workers' compensation act.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  G.S. 97‑26 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:

"(e1)    Physician Selection Regarding Diagnostic Tests. – Unless ordered otherwise by the Commission for good cause, the attending physician of an employee shall select the health care provider and the diagnostic services center to administer and analyze any diagnostic tests authorized by the physician."

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law and applies to diagnostic tests conducted on or after that date.
