A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT to study ways to improve, expedite, and simplify the Department of TRANSPORTATION'S PERMITTING processes.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. The Joint Legislative Transportation Oversight Committee shall study ways to improve, expedite, and simplify the permitting processes for:
(1) Street and driveway access permits.
(2) Right‑of‑way encroachment agreements.
(3) Traffic signal agreements to reimburse the Department of Transportation for the Department's inspections services or for the installation of a traffic signal if the Department opts to install the traffic signal.
SECTION 2. The Joint Legislative Transportation Oversight Committee shall report its findings to the House of Representatives and Senate Appropriations Subcommittees on Natural and Economic Resources no later than March 10, 2008.
SECTION 3. This act is effective when it becomes law.
