Short Title:     Definition of Biodiesel.

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to amend the definition of biodiesel for the quality and safety of motorists.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  G.S. 105‑449.60(1) reads as rewritten:

"(1)      Biodiesel. – Any fuel or mixture of fuels derived in whole or in part from agricultural products or animal fats or wastes from these products or fats.A fuel comprised of mono‑alkyl esters of long chain fatty acids derived from vegetable oils or animal fats, designated B100 and meeting the requirements of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) D‑6751. The term also includes blends of biodiesel with petroleum‑based diesel fuel, designated BXX where XX represents the percentage of volume of biodiesel fuel in the blend, that meet the requirements of ASTM D‑6751."

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2007.
