A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS TO give public school students the opportunity to take the sat test one time at State expense.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Public Instruction the sum of two million two hundred eighty-one thousand dollars ($2,281,000) for the 2007-2008 fiscal year and the sum of two million two hundred eighty-one thousand dollars ($2,281,000) for the 2008-2009 fiscal year to give public school students the opportunity to take the SAT Test one time at State expense. To qualify to take the test at State expense, a student must provide proof that he or she has completed a Free Application for Student Financial Aid, as provided by the United States Department of Education.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2007.
