A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT to appropriate funds to enact a pilot program to assess changes proposed by the Adult Protective Services Task Force with a goal of improving North Carolina's system of responding to allegations of abuse, Neglect, exploitation, or substantial risk of vulnerable OR elder adults, as recommended by the North Carolina Study Commission on Aging.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Aging and Adult Services, the sum of one million four hundred ninety‑seven thousand eighty‑seven dollars ($1,497,087) for the 2008‑2009 fiscal year to design and implement the first year of a two-year pilot program to assess proposed changes to the adult protective services system. The proposed changes include the implementation of an Adult Protective Services Clearinghouse Model intended to enhance the capacity of county departments of social services when responding to the needs of all abused, neglected, or exploited adults. The Department shall evaluate the pilot and report to the North Carolina Study Commission on Aging on or before March 1, 2010.
SECTION 2. This act becomes effective July 1, 2008.
