A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS TO implement THE first tee program.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Triangle Golf Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit organization, the sum of one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) for the 2008‑2009 fiscal year to implement the First Tee Program. The Triangle Golf Foundation, Inc. shall distribute these funds equally to the currently existing eight First Tee chapters in the State.
The First Tee is a World Golf Foundation initiative created in 1997 to provide young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop, through golf and character education, life skills built on the nine core values of honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgment.
SECTION 2. This act becomes effective July 1, 2008.
