A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT DIRECTING THE Department of Health and Human Services TO CONDUCT A STUDY TO IDENTIFY THE NEEDS OF THE AGING POPULATION IN BRUNSWICK AND OTHER COUNTIES.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. The Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Aging and Adult Services, shall conduct a study of the aging population in Brunswick and other counties that are experiencing or are projected to experience significant increases in the county's aging population. In conducting the study, the Division shall quantify the county's aging population, project future population growth, identify specific needs, and list services and agencies that are and will be required to meet these needs in the future. The study shall also recommend ways in which these services can be provided, costs associated with the services, and available funding sources. The Division shall report its findings and recommendations not later than May 1, 2008, to the 2008 Regular Session of the 2007 General Assembly and to the board of county commissioners of each county studied.
SECTION 2. This act becomes effective July 1, 2007.
