A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT to amend the controlled substances reporting act TO MAKE CHANGES PERTAINING TO CONFIDENTIALITY OF PRESCRIPTION INFORMATION.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. G.S. 90‑113.74(c) is amended by adding the following new subdivision to read:
"(c) The Department shall release data in the controlled substances reporting system to the following persons only:
…
(8) The Chief Medical Examiner or a duly appointed county medical examiner for purpose of investigating the death of an individual."
SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law.
