A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT to direct the department of health and human services, division of public health, to determine if all state agencies that implement childhood obesity prevention strategies are using a common metrics method to ensure useful comparison for purposes of measuring progress, AS RECOMMENDED BY THE PUBLIC HEALTH TASK FORCE.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. The Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health, shall conduct a review of all childhood obesity prevention strategies being implemented by State agencies. The purpose of the review is to determine if all agencies are using common metrics to enable measurement of progress and to identify where efforts have been the most successful and where additional efforts are needed. The Department shall report its findings to the Senate Appropriations Committee on Health and Human Services, the House of Representatives Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services, and the Fiscal Research Division. The report shall indicate whether legislation is needed to ensure that agencies use common metrics in the implementation of childhood obesity initiatives.
SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law.
