A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT to appropriate funds to enact a pilot program to assess proposed improvements to the adult protective services statutes, as recommended by the North carolina study commission on aging.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Aging and Adult Services, the sum of two million two hundred nine thousand dollars ($2,209,000) for the 2009‑2010 fiscal year, and the sum of two million two hundred thousand dollars ($2,200,000) for the 2010‑2011 fiscal year, to implement a pilot program to assess proposed improvements to the adult protective services statutes. The proposed improvements include implementation of the Adult Protective Services Clearinghouse Model which is intended to enhance the capacity of county departments of social services in responding to the needs of abused, neglected, or exploited adults. The Division shall make a status report to the North Carolina Study Commission on Aging on or before February 1, 2010, and a final report on the evaluation of the pilot program on or before November 1, 2010.
SECTION 2. This act becomes effective July 1, 2009.
