A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to appropriate funds for the north carolina arts council programs.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.(a)  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Cultural Resources the sum of two million dollars ($2,000,000) for the 2009‑2010 fiscal year and the sum of two million dollars ($2,000,000) for the 2010‑2011 fiscal year for the North Carolina Arts Council to be allocated each fiscal year as follows:

(1)        $1,000,000 for the Grassroots Arts Program.

(2)        $1,000,000 for the Basic Grants Program.

SECTION 1.(b)  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Cultural Resources the sum of five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) for the 2009‑2010 fiscal year to support cARTwheels, an education touring program of the North Carolina Arts Council.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2009.
