A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT To Appropriate funds for additional learn and earn high schools in north carolina, as recommended by the joint legislative COMMISSION on dropout prevention and high school graduation.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Public Instruction the sum of three million two hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($3,250,000) for the 2009‑2010 fiscal year and the sum of three million two hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($3,250,000) for the 2010‑2011 fiscal year in recurring funds.  These funds shall be used to provide funding for the 11 additional Learn and Earn high schools that will be operational in 2009‑2010.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2009.
