A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to appropriate funds to the board of governors of the university of north carolina to Expand the medical schools at East carolina university and the University of north carolina at chapel hill.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Board of Governors of The University of North Carolina the sum of two million dollars ($2,000,000) for the 2009‑2010 fiscal year and the sum of two million dollars ($2,000,000) for the 2010‑2011 fiscal year in recurring funds to support planning activities and expand medical education, medical school class size, and medical research at the Brody School of Medicine and at the UNC‑Chapel Hill School of Medicine.  The funds shall be allocated equally between the two medical schools.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2009.
