A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS TO PROVIDE FOR DIFFERENTIATED FUNDING OF COMMUNITY COLLEGE ALLIED HEALTH PROGRAMS.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.(a)  The State Board of Community Colleges shall identify the Allied Health Programs within the Community College System and shall weigh the costs of Allied Health Programs as a group against all other programs within the System. The State Board shall modify its funding formula to allow for differentiation in funding between Allied Health Programs and all other programs.

SECTION 1.(b)  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Community Colleges System Office the sum of nine million three hundred thousand dollars ($9,300,000) for the 2009‑2010 fiscal year and the sum of eighteen million six hundred thousand dollars ($18,600,000) for the 2010‑2011 fiscal year to provide for differentiated funding for Allied Health Programs.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2009.
