A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to appropriate funds, as recommended by the House select committee on sex offender issues, to the department of justice to support new SBI computer crime and computer forensics agent positions in order to increase proactive undercover law enforcement efforts against sexual predators who attempt to prey on children.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Justice the sum of nine hundred sixty thousand five hundred twelve dollars ($960,512) for the 2009‑2010 fiscal year to support eight new SBI computer crime and computer forensics agents to increase proactive undercover law enforcement efforts and to speed up the analysis of computer forensic evidence in order to arrest and prosecute sexual predators who attempt to prey on children.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2009.
