A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to appropriate funds to the board of governors of the university of north carolina to assist with the costs of opening the new dental school at east carolina university.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Board of Governors of The University of North Carolina the sum of six million dollars ($6,000,000) for the 2009‑2010 fiscal year and the sum of eight million dollars ($8,000,000) for the 2010‑2011 fiscal year to be allocated to East Carolina University.  The funds shall be used to assist with the cost of opening the new school of dentistry so that students can be accepted by the Fall of 2011 and shall also be used to hire faculty and staff, develop the curriculum, and establish the service learning schools for the new school of dentistry.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2009.
