A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT to eliminate bonuses under the ABCs of Public Education Program and to use the funds for salary increases for teachers.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. G.S. 115C‑105.36 is repealed.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Reserve for Compensation Increases, the sum of ninety‑three million, nine hundred forty‑nine thousand seven hundred thirty‑three dollars ($93,949,733) for the 2009‑2010 fiscal year to supplement other funds appropriated for teacher salary increases for the fiscal year. This appropriation equals the amount appropriated in The Current Operations and Capital Improvements Appropriations Act of 2008 for ABC Bonuses.
SECTION 3. This act becomes effective July 1, 2009.
