A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to appropriate funds to the board of governors of the university of north carolina to reimburse brody school of medicine at east carolina university for medical care provided to indigent patients.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Board of Governors of The University of North Carolina the sum of three million dollars ($3,000,000) for the 2009‑2010 fiscal year and the sum of five million dollars ($5,000,000) for the 2010‑2011 fiscal year to be allocated to East Carolina University to be used to reimburse the Brody School of Medicine for direct costs incurred for providing medical care to indigent patients in eastern North Carolina.  These funds shall be recurring funds.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2009.
