A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to increase funding for the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Board of Governors of The University of North Carolina the sum of one million dollars ($1,000,000) for the 2009‑2010 fiscal year and the sum of one million dollars ($1,000,000) for the 2010‑2011 fiscal year to increase funding for the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching.  These funds shall be used for programs in support of teachers in their first three years of teaching.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2009.
