A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to appropriate funds to prevent preterm births as recommended by the child fatality task force.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health, the sum of ninety‑seven thousand dollars ($97,000) for the 2010‑2010 fiscal year, and the sum of ninety‑seven thousand dollars ($97,000) for the 2010‑2011 fiscal year.  These funds shall be used to provide special medications to eligible low‑income and minority women at risk for recurring preterm birth, and to provide education to community‑based health care providers on the efficacy and administration of such medications.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2009.
