Short Title:        Expand Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday.

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to expand the energy star qualified products that qualify for the sales and use tax holiday.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  G.S. 105‑164.13D(a) reads as rewritten:

"§ 105‑164.13D.  Sales and use tax holiday for Energy Star qualified products.

(a)        The taxes imposed by this Article do not apply to the Energy Star qualified products with a sales price of six thousand dollars ($6,000) or less per item listed in this section if sold between 12:01 A.M. on the first Friday of November and 11:59 P.M. the following Sunday. The qualified products are:are the following:

(8)        Battery chargers.

(9)        Dishwashers.

(10)      Room air cleaners.

(11)      Residential water heaters.

(12)      Boilers.

(13)      Furnaces.

(14)      Ventilating fans.

(15)      Insulation.

(16)      Air sealing products.

(17)      Windows.

(18)      Doors.

(19)      Skylights.

(20)      Cordless phones.

(21)      External power adapters.

(22)      Compact fluorescent light bulbs.

(23)      Decorative light strings.

(24)      Residential light fixtures."

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2009, and applies to sales made on or after that date.
