A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to authorize the administrative office of the courts to charge fees to applicants for mediator and mediator training program certifications and certification renewal fees.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  G.S. 7A‑38.2(d) reads as rewritten:

"(d)      An administrative fee, not to exceed two hundred dollars ($200.00), may be charged by the Administrative Office of the Courts to applicants for certification and annual renewal of certification for mediators and mediation training programs operating under this Article. The Administrative Office of the Courts may charge fees to applicants for mediator and mediator training program certifications and for annual renewal of mediator and mediator training program certifications. Fees shall be set by the Director of the Administrative Office of the Courts upon recommendation of the Dispute Resolution Commission. The fees collected may shall be used by the Director of the Administrative Office of the Courts to establish and to administer the certification process and to maintain the operations of the Commission and its staff."

SECTION 2.  G.S. 7A‑38.4A(l) is repealed.

SECTION 3.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2009.
