State of the States 2010


  The Pew Center on the States has just released the State of the States 2010, an annual publication that this year focuses on the policy and political effects of the recession in the 50 states.

The Pew Center on the States is a division of The Pew Charitable Trusts, and is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that offers news, information and research on states’ fiscal health and a range of other topics.

What Committee Minutes are on file in the Legislative Library?

The Library maintains a collection of standing and non-standing legislative committee minutes dating back to the 1960’s.  Older, archived minutes are available for review in microfilm format while more recent minutes can be found in original paper format.

Lunchtime Series at the NC Museum of History

History à la Carte: Fifty Years Since the Sit-Ins.

In February 1960, four African American college freshmen in Greensboro ignited a sit-in movement protesting racial segregation.  Amelia Parker, Executive Director of the International Civil Rights Center and Museum, will discuss the movement’s early days and the museum that now occupies the historic F. W. Woolworth store where it all began.

Wednesday, Feb. 10, 12:10–1 p.m.  Bring your lunch; beverages provided.
