AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE EXPENDITURE OF CERTAIN SURPLUS FUNDS OF GASTON COUNTY FOR THE PURPOSE OF RENOVATING AND ENLARGING THE COUNTY COURTHOUSE.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. The Board of Commissioners of Gaston County is hereby authorized to expend such portion of any surplus remaining in the general fund, the poor fund, the debt fund, and the school budget tax surplus fund, of the said county, at the end of the fiscal year ending June 30, 1961, as it shall deem necessary for the purpose of repairing, renovating, expanding and enlarging the county courthouse.

Sec. 2. This Act shall not be construed to permit the expenditure for the purposes named herein of any portion of the surplus of any of the funds named which is necessary for the proper current operation of said funds.

Sec. 3. If any provision of this Act or the application thereof to any of the funds named herein is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of this Act to the remaining funds which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this Act are declared to be severable.

Sec. 4. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 5. This Act shall be effective from and after its ratification.
